I could prolly help out as I have had both turbos. I'll spill the beans!
The k04 was a torque monster. I had a k04 with giac pc-16 file, 310cc injectors, fmic, 3bar fpr, and the thing hauled! Ran a 14.4 with a 2.2 60'..yes i suck at driving... but could have easily gotten the car into the 13's. Around town the car was a blast, huge torque spike at about 3200, but boost died to arouns 12psi by redline.
The gt28rs .86...
This thing is a beast, I am not yet done as I ran out of money...college budget... but once I get the fmic I will be turning the boost up. I currently have it set to 15psi and this thing is a blast. Spins through 1st and 2nd when wet out, yes awd. On the highway it doesn't stop pulling, the only thing is I think it might get me into trouble, i have looked down on several occasions seeing 100mph and increasing very fast, I dont know when it starts to die down but it hits 130 pretty damn fast...as a silver b6 with painted lowers found out around Scranton PA...dunno if hes on here.
Basically the k04 was more fun around town due to the huge amt of torque but the gt28rs is a beast on the highway. Its fully spooled by about 3800rpm
