Are K&N Airfilters Bad?
I've been reading a thread in the TT forum where someone is saying that the K&N panel replacement filter has ruined their MAF sensor. Any truth to that? I've had one in my B6's airbox for about 10k miles now and I haven't had any problems.
No they are not bad - stock(out of the box) they are great and the best thing you can get. The reason that his MAF was killed was because he over oiled it when he last cleaned it. the oil in the filter get inside the MAF so even cleaning it will not make it any better.
Its not the filter, it is the amount of oil that he used on it after he cleaned it. I guess reading the post and having it answered there still warrents another thread. [sm=dontgetit.gif]
something like this? http://www.esetuning.com/product-p/e...el-filters.htm
10k miles on K&N panel, not a code yet. I will be cleaning it soon and won't be too generous with the oil. I think anyone that gets a code dropping a brand new one in already had problems that were amplified by the swap somehow or are sinners and karma is a bitch.
