Default K&N quick question - auxiliary intake valve?

Hi,

Got a 1998 B5 Audi A4Q and just been installing the K&N filter kit which is the 57-0515 model (for Audi A4 2.8i V6 193 bhp 1995-2001), which is correct for my car but i seem to have something missing, or maybe i'm missing something!

WhenI get halfway down the instructions to number 19, it's telling me to "Fit the breather filter to the auxiliary air pump hose using the hose clip supplied" (See figure #18). I don't seem to have one of these auxiliary air pump hoses, I assume I should as this kit is meant to be for my car?

I've attached an image of figure #18 so maybe some of you guys recognise it.

It seems to say it was attached to the front of the airbox (under the intake scoop)? As insturction 7 tells me to disconnect it from there.

ButI din't even have any hose attached there before, and I also don't have any holes in my airbox which I removed, just the scoop entry and the MAS fitment hole.

I'm rather puzzled so if anyone knows anything I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks, Justin.

Hey Justin ..

Enjoy that intake system..it will sound great but I would recommend a heat shield for it..you can do a search over in Audizine ..there is a guy who makes really good custom ones..because you will be robbing your engine of power sucking in hot air

anyway your year B5 doesnt have the secondary air pump which is what that picture is of and what they are refering to. I believe only 99-01 B5s have them...so dont worry about it..if you installed everything else your good to go!!

Just get that heat shield especially when it gets warmer outside..really noticeable (also if you look into a aftermarket billet dv like a stratmosphere forge or bailys it will work best)

have fun...pshhhhhing
