Default K03 Wastegate Flap opinions..

Pulled my turbo off last night to try to figure out the rattle. I'm not sure if this is the culprit, but this is what it looks like where my wastegate flap is supposed to be.

The flap was sitting at the edge of my cat. My question is, does anybody think this would work http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=467495 I know it's a little ghetto, but I plan on going K04 around Christmas time, and just want the rattle gone for now. FWIW- I would probably weld the nut to the bolt.

This is what is should look like, although this is my old fffed up turbo so don't mind the cracks.
You are missing the whole flap.

Somewhat sounded like the "coasting 12 speed bike" that people talk about. That's why I thought it was the wastegate. I had read that when it's the wastegate you can maybe adjust the 2 nuts on the wastegate to get rid of the rattle, so I thought I'd take it out and see if that was the case. Upon removal I found the flap missing and sitting inside my cat. Here's my fix. Just about to go install it.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

I don't have a boost guage yet. I know I know, but I've only had the car for about a month. So I can't say for sure whether I was boosting or not. I'll have to see if there is a significant difference when I'm done. I do know it is considerably slower than my brothers 98 1.8t though.

Thanks for fixing my pic.

I'm hoping so. It's been a busy month with this car. Did the timing belt a couple weeks ago and now working on this. I'm going to have the same knot in my stomach when I go to turn the key as I did when I did the tb. Kind of nerve wracking.
