I am looking for a turbo right now. And I can't image it screwing things up that quick. But I will have to see what I can find first.

Is there a reason why you would have to throw the ECU in your car ASAP!!! why couldn't you buy it and then wait for your K04 to come in. -

yeah....don't quote me on that k04vsk03 thing - but thats what I think would happen

basic k04 isn't a larger injector file, only j31, pc-16, and hammer files require bigger injectors. but if your looking for more power i doubt the k04 chip will give much, if any gains with the k03, and your taking a slight risk by putting the new programming in. if your getting the k04 soon just have some patience and put the chip in then.

Yeah I probably will end up doing that. I still don't know if it's for an auto or manual though. He hasn't logged back in since 1 am! LOL

whats up guys, sorry to burst your "I WANT POWER NOW" speech but the chip was for a manual 5 speed. I dont know if you can use this for a tiptronic but my guess is probably not, unless im wrong. Im pretty sure there is a tip chip. As for running it on the k03, i wouldnt suggest doing that. The chip was programmed running 18psi and dont think the dinky k03 could hold that much with stock housing. Ifyou find out that you can use it for automatic let me know, but i think your gonna be disappointed with the answer.

nope they're not interchangable unless you recode it with a vagcom, but the coding tends to not stick and messes up. its best just to get one that matches your tranny. and chipped k03's run 18-21 psi so its not that that will cause it to mess up. a k04 produces slightly more power at 18 psi than a k03 does tho. this is because it is slightly larger so it ismoving more air at a certain psi than a smaller turbo would. so with more air the tuning will most likelytell the cartouse more fuel. when the k03 is not producing as much air but stillrunning at 18 psi the car will run rich, due to alower a/f ratio. and thats what will mess up his car. the question is how long can he run slightly rich before he ***** things up.

Auto & manual use different code. I would not even chance running it, if you recode the car for the ECU.

I would not run K04 code on a Ko3 car, you will run really rich all the time, and I bet the car will BOG a lot. A K04 flows a ton more CFM as the same boost as a K03, that's why it give you more HP!

It should be a double skip, & just go the proper route, of getting a k04 kit.
