Yea I charge $30 to cut the key why do you think that is wrong the ket cutting machine cost over $10,000 gotta pay for that somehow I think I should be charging more to cut these damm ebay keys

ORIGINAL: Trey25

My stealership charged me 65 bucks to cut the key. They wanted $95 for a key fob and $55 to program it, those bastards. I bought two off ebay (one was brand new) and programmed them myself for a total of $70.

The key cutting machine for VW/Merc./Audi is down to $8,000... That is easily paid for through the sale of 2 Audi's. (or 5.3 timing belt jobs.)

Dont ever go to the dealer unless its a part that cant be found elsewhere... You'll get RAPED. Fenders/bumpers are easily found at junk yards with a little patience... Youll save an *** load unless cl can hook you up BIG TIME.

On that site they say you must have 2 keys to program new fob. Is this true?
Yes you do need 2 keys, the valet key you have now in ignition and the new key in the door.
Hey clconversion I was told by the guy in the parts dept that the lower L/R grilles on a 99.5+ can't fit on a 98, is thats true. I plan on finding them at salvage yard to confirm it myself but just wanna hear what you think. As a mechanic I tend not to listen to the parts guy cuz they're usually clueless lol, one time I asked this guy to send down a set off front pads and rotors, he sent TWO freakin pads and a spindle lmao.
