Hey all,
my key fob will only lock/unlock my car from <10 feet away. Is it the battery in my key fob? My friend's C class MB unlocks in the parking lot from our 4th floor balcony that overlooks it, but I can't even unlock my A4 from more than 10 feet away..what's wrong here?
Why would you want it that far way? 10 feet aren't good enough a distance for you? I usually hit the button right around 5-10 feet and immediately go for the door handle as I get close to the vehicle. I couldn't bear the fact that my car's open from afar, I just couldn't wait that long to get into the car - especially on an Audi A4!

I'd like to have a bit better range for the fact that sometimes I get out and walk away and want to make sure I locked it up but I'm more than the range from the car and have to walk back. So I personally wouldn't use the unlock from far away but to make sure it's locked up.

its a big thing in the UK and an insurance loss, seen many walk away and flick the button and think the cars is locked ( its the duty of the insured to ensure its locked ) complacency I call it

So I found this thread and looked but couldn't find this exact wire up there. I looked under the rear seat and see about 5 different viable options to be it.

https://www.audiforums.com/m_556792/tm.htm

Does anyone know the exact locations on a 2001? Or which locations it could be?

It should be exactly where it is in that DIY thread. Look again, and if not then look in the C pillar behind the dome light trim. Thats where mine is but I have pre 99.5 yours should be under the car like in the thread.

So I went out and found that indeed my antenna was under the bumper and kinda hidden. But anyways HOLY ****!! This worked so freaking amazingly well I couldn't believe it. Before I was getting the whole 5~10ft thing but damn, now I can be like 50+ft away with ease. I even tried it from my basement and I was able to get it to lock being about 10ft up and then another 20ft away from that! I'm thinking that I'll be all set from now on... LOL [8D]
