Default Key programing

Anyone here ever program a key with a remotefor a 1999 Audi A4? I called the dealer and they are asking 250 bucks for the key and 70 bucks to program the key. Ebay sells the key for only 50 bucks but it doesn't come with programing instructions. Can any give me some info on how to program the remote?
Thanks

99 A4 is easy

Get in the car, Roll down the drivers window, then do the following.
1. Put your spare key in the ignition, turn the car 'on' (all the dash lights will be on) then within 10 seconds do the following.
2. Get out, shut the drivers door.
3.Put the keyfob key in the drivers door lock, lock the door, then press the unlock button on the keyfob.
4. The headlights will flash, unlock the door with the key.
5.Pull the key in the ignition out, and test your keyfob.

I tried it with the trunk lock too, it didnt work =( wich sux cuz my drivers door lock is busted.

I need a second key for an A4/2007. I see no keys for the car on ebay that match my remote numbers. My shop cost for a key at the dealer is $130+75 to program and they said they would sell me the works for $185. I called the place on ebay that sells the keys for $50 and their numbers don't match as I stated, and they said that the transponders need to be changed out in used keys or they will not work. Antbody got an idea how to get away from the high priced key??? Seems I need a source for a key with matching numbers-8EO837220R plus but a new blade and get it recut(that parts easy), plus have a source for the transponders. The ebay gal said they get them from China and that they are pretty expensive.HELP???

I pretty much used up what you get on remotes thru Google-the remote I am looking for on an 07 is too new to find-keyless has it but the price is no better than the dealer - at this point I am going to pay the dealer $185 which includes $75 to program. My understanding is ,that the process is not done by an individual with instructions via ebay or this forum. If you have an older car google car remote or something similar, having your part number and FCC # handy and see whats out there. As for me, I give...

I know this thread is asking for programming key for 1999 model but just in case others need to program their keys for newer model here is the procedures: (It worked on my 2004 model)

1. Get in the car and close the door. Press unlock on the key fob (the one needs re-program)
2. While holding down unlock, insert the key into ignition and turn the car ON (the stage right before start engine)
3. Turn it off and pull out the key (you are still holding down unlock button at this time)
4. Release unlock button
5. Test the key fob by press either lock or unlock
6. You are good to go

Make sure you are holding down unlock button while doing step 1 - 3.
