Default Keys gone Bad?

So i just got my 96 A4 and i am having problems with the keys. when i go to turn it on sometimes it just makes a whining noise and wont start. i spent 15 mins trying to figure it out. after a couple more tries i started right up. Anybody have any idea whats wrong? seems maybe the chip in the key is bad or sumthing. if there is a chip... Lemme Know what u think. Thanks

Is the noise coming from the starter?

It doesnt sound like it.... today it finally crapped out on me. so we took off the fuse box cover and we could see and feel the relays and when the ingition was turned it seemed to vibrate. it was actually the #204 relay that we think might be the problem but i have no idea. If anyone has any idea which relay(s) are related to the ingnition. thank you so much. also if anyone knows how much a new ignition would cost let me know thatnks.

I've been reading on Audi World Forums and it seems as though my problem is the ingnition switch. I am probably gonna order the part and replace it myself. I'll let you know how it goes.

relay No1, on the relay/fuse plate there are 19 relays and 5 fuses, on the bottom of the plate there 6 relays all close together #1 is the first on the left "lower left corner"

Thank you guys for all your help. It turned out to be my ignition switch like i thought. It cost me $20 to replace and took me about an hour to replace. Now it fire up like a pro again. There is also a tutorial on Audi World if anyone else has this problem.
