This has probably been posted alot but i cant find it. I want to think about getting a upgraded turbo for my 99.5' A4 1.8t. I was looking at the ko4 but i guess people dont like it because it dosent produce anough power. I was wondering if i can get the hp gain of a ko4 compared to the 2871R from www.renn-art.com

I dont think you can compare k04 and elim 2871r .... get as big as you can afford.

 

well i think the highest ever WHP dyno on KO4 was like 200whp plus or minus some(recent dynos on pc16 software were only 189whp) and the whp for the gt2871r eliminator is supposed to be at least 260whp.

but just like a turbo.. they can always be bigger..

Hmm.. this analogy works well..

Do you want a huge turbo with high RPM power. Full GT28RS/GT2871R Elim(36DD)

Or a small one will quick spool and snappy touque? k04/GT2X(A Cup)

Or do you want a compromise... say a GTRS kit.. or a Full 28R kit? (34/36C)

I mean there is always bigger .. 2871R Full, 3071R Full.. GT35R (36DDD... beer can crushers)

 

You'll get just as much torque if not more out of a k04, but you won't see nearly as much power as a Garret turbo. I really like my k04 though. Its great for a daily driver, and the most reliable turbo upgrade out there.

 

what kind of power would i have with a ko4 kit, chips, down pipe, and a catback.......does anyone know anything in the ballpark?

 

so what i have now, stock, is 173whp or chp? if its whp, then how can the full ko4 kit only make 200whp? the giac x will get me at about 217hp or so, but idk it thats wheel or crank, i think crank.?

 

Juice you have 170 chp cuz your an '01. The basic k04 kit with GIAC is rated at 235 chp. PC-16 is closer to about 250 chp. My REVO kit is rated at 255 chp.
