So I just installed a KO4 and it is misfiring. I took it to a tuner shop and they said that I need an FPR (from an m3). Now I'm wondering why they didn't tell me this when I was getting the KO4 installed... I'm running a regular giac file for the KO3..I'll get around to upgrading that file, but what else do I absolutely NEED to just complete this KO4 install.. do I even need this FPR upgrade?

Well first off where did you get the K04 from? (kit off the net) Most kits come with the 5 bar fpr. Also where was this installed at?

 

You NEED a5 bar FPR. Doesnt have to be from a BMW.

 

I bought the kit from kineticmotorsport and did the install myself... no fpr with the kit

fpr install is simple. Its held in by a plastic clip on the firewall side of the fuel rail and youll need to take the vac line off of it to put in the new.
If all you got in this "kit" was the turbo and hardware (gaskets/bolts etc.) its not a true kit. A kit comes with the turbo, hardware, software,fpr, and spark plugs - typically.

of they sent you a kit for a b6. We don't need any FPR changes to run the k04 as far as I know.

 

i got a k04 on the stock fpr and never had a problem. im running the basic programming btw. if i were you i would just get the right programming for the right turbo
