Default ko4 turbo

does anyone have any information on the k04-15 turbo upgrade by borg warner. how reliable is it, how good is it? i want to replace my stock k03 with the k04, and am planning to jsut bolt it on without doing any mods yet. i know ill get better performance with more mods, but im gonna do that in the summer. for now im just planning to bolt it on and run it as that. but i need your advice on how good is it..

thanks

Its almost pointless to put it on with no other mods(exhaust mainly). You will have soo much lag off the line you will be slower than the ko3. I would wait till summer and have all the right stuff to make it effective.

btw- you need differnent software also.

Well if your k03 is shot and need a new turbo no mater what then get the k04. It is very reliable as long as you can give the turbo proper warm up before hard runs and cool down after your done. It is RECCOMENDED to have exhaust with a downpipe and proper software to extract more performance. It is reccomended not needed though.

They only say its "recomended", running a ko4 on a stock ecu is not good. If you ecu is chipped and putting out more fuel and what not, well, thats a differnent story.

running a k04 with out a chip wont hurt your car. there will actuallyl be a decrease in lag b/c of the k04s agressive blade pitch.
heres some pics of mine b4 going on my car

David, do you know anybody who can rebuild a k04. Im thinking about getting one that is used? Or do they sell kits to rebuild it yourself?
