i was looking at the KO4 turbo upgrade from AWE for my 99 1.8 quattro and the price is nice on it but it says i don't need to make ne other upgrades except exhaust...is this true? and also it says it comes with a new GIAC chip...is this kit and chip legal if i were to take my car to inspection, cuz ive looked and couldn't find ne thing on it? also if u have the KO4 how do u like it?

 

The AWE k04 kit comes will all the required pieces which includes software. Its probably legal unless you put a straight pipe on your exhaust which would fail emissions. However since I don't own a K04 kit I can't say.

 

Never heard of anyone failing emmissions tests due to a ko4.

 

it says 50 state LEGAL. which means if wont fail emissions if you use the kit correctly (keep the cat converter)

 

i didn't see ne thing that said it was 50 state street legal...another question...how much PSI does it make SAFELY?

 

ask the tech. usually its info@websitename.com does it say "For off-road use only" or "not for use in california" if not then its 50 state legal

 

I thot ko4 is what is used on the audi tt so i figured it would be smog legal etc etc just my 2 cents im prolly wrong... LATE

 

alrite cool...it says the kit makes about 225-235...i asked b4 how much boost the kit makes but still didn't get an answer if ne1 knows that'd b great

 

ask the techs. it probably makes about 7-9psi for 225 hp thats how much the 225hp tt makes.

 

7-9 pounds of boost doesn't sound right. Stock K03 makes that, chipped K03 probably about15-16. I would expect the chipped K04 to push the boost a bit higher than that.
