LCD between tach and spedo, different for different packages?

LCD between tach and spedo, different for different packages?
I've seen the LCD between the tach and spedometer to be all bright glowing red or a black multi-color display with red, white and black colors. Is this part of one of the packages? Does that differ for B6, B7 and B8? Thanks.
