I recently purchased a 2000 A4 avant 1.8T. Like other old Audis, this had a faint LCD panel. Since yesterday, it completely gets blank while the engine is running - no more radio station, temperature or mpg displays. When I turn the ignition, I still can read "Press clutch pedal..." and see "OK", but then it gets completely blank. Can this be solved as well by repairing the faint LCD?

Also, I don't know if this is related, but the right channel of the BOSE stereo system sounds distorted, and this problem is intermittent.

I have a lcd screen thats out as well... Any help on rairing it or a way to replace it with out payin ridiculous prices will be greatly appriciated...

 

I was able to fix this blank LCD problem myself. It was just a fuse that had bad contact. After I cleaned it, it displays the radio station, temperature and the mpg again.
As to the pixel problem of the LCD, I am thinking of using this service on ebay: Audi A4 S4 A6 Instrument Cluster LCD Repair Service (170684153297)
