I've got a leak. It drips down onto that nut from somewhere above. What is that canister, drum, looking thing above it? I took a pic from above of the mystery thing, but it's pretty hard to see, I know. Maybe mine is just dirty, but apparently it's white on some cars. The leak itself is very slow and even appears to be slowing. If it drips, I'll get a drop or two over night after it sits for about 15 hours. I'm pretty sure it's oil, though my PS hoses are pretty wet...anyway, it looks like oil. Any ideas?

Would shining a flashlight on the mystery thing while you take a pic help? I'm not much help, but here's a free bump.

No, not really. In fact, I'm using a torch in the pictures taken from under the car. But thanks for the bump .

Well, there are two ways to look at this. That cable plugged into the thing could be leaking electricity and data, or, your car is trying to lose some weight and it's turned anorexic.

It looks kind of greenish. Could it be power steering fluid?

I'm not really sure what to think about the greenish looking marks in the picture (my PS fluid is kind of reddish...[&:]), but that's not what's dripping anyway...what's dripping is almost certainly oil.

Red PS fluid? Unless you've made the switch to Mobil1 synthetic ATF I'd start to get worried.

That mistery thing in your pic is one of your motor mounts, and yes, it has RED hydraulic fluid in them. Change both of them out.

Well, it's good to know what that thing is, but it's not leaking red fluid, what's dripping is oil. Or if it's not, then it's obscenely dirty (I'm almost sure it's oil).
