get a 1.8, you can get a lot of HP out of these motors and they are half the weight of a HEAVY V6 motor...

Less weight, more HP and TQ = a faster car

 

You have the least modable engine available for the A4. If youre looking for more power, at least get a 98+ 2.8 or 97+ 1.8T. The 30v 2.8 started in 98, and you could supercharge it, or get a 97+ 1.8t and the moding capabilities are endless. There are some things you can do to your 12v, but for how much you would spend vs how much power youd get- its just not worthwhile. Its not that your engine is a POS, its very reliable, but there just arent many go fast mods for it.

 

Oh you guys quit 12v bashing, Dr. feel good you can save lots of money on maintenance with your 12 valve. Just open up the exhaust as much as possible, cold air intake, and here take a look at these wheels..... Stern ST-1 Face Beasts they are made by ADR and you want 18x8.5 x 5x112 with a 35 mm offset look at www.adrwheels.com I just put these on my car i love them, also do a snub short shifter and some springs, i'd recommend H&R sport or race springs. Here is my 96 on race springs with those wheels. I really like this car and i couldnt bring myself to get rid of it even when i bought a new truck.

The 12v isn't a BAD engine... if it had a different ECU it would be a little nicer. You can do a couple things to make it enjoyable but the big pwoer mods are out of the question.

 

You can now chip the 2.8 V6. (I know I am going to hear it and you are going to get a BUNCH of responses on not to get this becuase it s cheap, but hear me out and give the guy a call!!!)

InMotion Tuning offers a chip for the 2.8 V6 that will increase the HP from 190 to about 210 or so. It is about $200 for it. And like I said, before flaming me or that company, give them a call and talk to them. They know their stuff and are very helpful. I am getting an ECU chip and Tip Chip from them in a few weeks.
