lexan windows
a'c is 70lbs, minus the power it takes to spin it. I honestly really wouldn't sacrifice that much to be the fastest ko4'd a4. You can go much faster with a different turbo for the amt it would cost for all this weight reduction stuff and you won't lose some of the nicer parts of the car. For example did you know although bulletproof polycarbontes scratches very easily...like if you had debris under your wiper blades
it doesn't even take debris to scratch it...i've seen older lexan windows (way older) that are foggy from little scratches all over..i'm with tom on the weight reduction thing...you can improve your power/weight ratio much more by increasing power, rather than reducing weight. the cost of weight reduction just isn't worth it (and the sacrafices like no spare, no a/c, etc)
Yeah, i really dont want too, Im keeping my ko4 for autox because the ko4 is the best turbo for it.When someone comes out with a kit that spools faster then my ko4 i will get it, till then, the ko4 it is.
it's all about the power to weight ratio, which i'm sure you know...but if you look at the math below, you'll see what i'm saying about increasing power vs. reducing weight....
2001 A4 1.8T Quattro
Weight: 3241lbs
HP: 170
Stock HP/weight: 0.05245
Add 50hp (stock weight):
HP/weight: 0.06788
difference from stock: +0.01543 (~29% increase)
Shave 500lbs (w/stock HP)
HP/weight: 0.06202
difference from stock: +0.00957 (~18% increase)
so just a chip will give you more gains that pretty much every weight reduction together. w/r should be the last thing you do to your car, after you can't put any more money into the engine...that's just my 2 cents though...

Very good points all.
I was just addressing the weight reduction issue only. If you are into tracking the car only and you don't care about the interior and cosmetics, then removing all street legal amenities is the way to go. Thus, remove the spare, remove the seats, remove the interior door panels and the window motors, etc, etc. Re-fiber means to R&R all the external panels of the car and replace them with CF alternatives. There are ten panels total (excluding the roof).

BTW: Silverbullet does this to his car at the track. He's gotten the removal process down to a science - he removes all the crap I mentioned above in about one half hour! Then he kicks a$$ at the track!
if u havent noticed im almost at the end of my moddin so yes weight reduction will come into play...also its illegal and plus i dont think they make a front windshield of lexan its just rear windows so why would they scratch.....audiboy bring ur challenge...ill woop that azz...
