I have no front plate in WI. It's required here. If you get a ticket here and have a decent excuse you get a fix it ticket. 5 days to put the front plate on. So then you clear the ticket and you're fine.

im in california
and ive gotten written up for the licence plate in the front
i acctually had the licence plate removed from the front and
put the plate in the windshield. so even with the plate removed and
still visible, you still get a ticket. the ticket only has a "large" ammount
if you refuse to fix it. if you do get a ticket, you need to fix it and then
show it to a cop, which he will inspect then sign your ticket, then you
must mail it in, along with a $10 check as a processing fee, but then again
its weither the damn cop got his dounut and coffee that day or not.

i'm pretty in minnesota they have to pull you over for something else, ex. speeding, out tail light, to give you anything for the front lisence plate. At most, without any other illegal acts, just a warning for not having the front one, it's also that way about illegal tint on the front windows.

Just use LOTS Of magnets! You can keep adding magnets... easily get like 40 lbs + of magnetic force. If anybody wanted your plates that badly, they would take them... magnets or not. Takes 30 seconds with a screwdriver.

One other problem taking it off when it is illegal is that it gives the cop a reason to pull you over. If you have anything illegal in your car or you are doing something else illegal that you don't want them to know about, its better to leave it on instead of risking it.

Yeah... life sucks. I need a front plate too.

But the day I put one in my window... well... that day will not come. It's like a piece of metal/plastic in your car just waiting to become airborne in the event of an accident. Pointless... it doesnt look good. Just be happy it is easy to fix!
