Default License plate screws

I went on a search today to get the screws to attach my license plate to my 2001 A4. I think I heard more often then not "Boy, I've never seen anything like that before." The threads are so shallow I can't find anything that fits quite right. One suggestion was to just go through the sheet metal. I figure I can have been the only one with this problem.

nope...your not the only one.... my plates only came bolted on with 2 screws...so everytime i closed the trunk, it'd rattle.....and being the picky a$$**le i am....i had to go out and find some more.......and i could not find ANY that matched....the ones i'm using now are almost a match...but the heads are slightly too small.
probably the hardest thing to find...

Perhaps I can try the dealer. It's a matter of distance. They might be happy just to stick their on plate frame on the car. I usually take those things off as I don't like to be free advertising for the dealer.

Oh good idea, there is one close by. As I was poking around the insides of the car I noticed a few VW stickers on parts.
