Just lost 2ed gear. I was pulling away from a light at a normal pace and the shifter jerked out of my hand into the newtral position I put it back into 2end let off the clutch and touched the gas and it jumped out again. It won't say in so I'm driving from 1st to 3erd right now. anyone have anything. or maybe where to get a decent used manual for a 2.8 and if so is a six speed an option.

 

Ouch buddy, you have a 2.8 engine? and you killed the 2.8 tranny? yowza.

Was 2nd giving you trouble before, or was this sudden?

As for your 6 spd question... I have heard it is much more trouble than it is worth... total audi performance (TAP) had said they were releasing a 6 spd conversion, but they abandoned it.

 

It would grind every once in a while. Something kinda ironic and maybe helped kill the trany. I changed my battery today and the computer had to learn how to run the car again and it feels like i got another 20 or 30 ponys out of it. I have bad torque steer in first now when I didn't before. makes driving without second alittle better.

yeah now it really pisses me off cus I am still hangin around where I was without second gear. Just what if I still had it.

 

That happened to my friends Mustang.... Sometimes he could bang it in and it would stay, I forget what it was but it wasn't anything major, clutch cable sounds familiar to me but I'm not sure.

 

you can look for one here juny yard i got my trany from them

it sounds like a synchro to me. Probably not worth replacing unless you rebuild the entire trans, which is probably around the same price as a used one.

 

thanks guys. Talked to my uncle that used to work at a trany shop and He also thinks its the synchros. I'm just gonna look around maybe get a used one and rebuild it myself.
