Like a glove....

Just got a 2000 A4 1.8t b5 tip. Its front wheel drive... I test drove a 99 quatro but it seemed slower comared to the fwd. It has 71,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition all around. I got it for $8,900! According to the blue book, and other sales I've seen, thats a great deal. I have learnerd something new about the car every day for the past week, including the need for a timing belt tensioner and water pump kit. I have no idea if this maintinece has been done or not. Is there a way to tell? By the way, what the fuck is up with that ski bag in the middle of the back seat??? Ive found that Audi has strange marketing, and sales procedures. Most things that tend to go wrong on these cars are not covered under any reacalls, if out of waranty. It seems like there are too many people with the same symptoms of common problems for there to not be any sort of recall action. It seems like things such as timing belt tensioners, water pumps, coil packs, dash read out, control arms, sun roof problems, power steering hose leaks, snub mounts, windshield washer problems, etc. are very common problems which for the most part arent addressed with a recall when they should be. I believe this is Audi's way of trying to generate labor hours. Im not saying Audi's are ticking time bombs, but all of the problems that people post in this forum are true and accurate, and are also repetetive. Dont get me wrong, I really like the car's looks and features, the upkeep is possibly worth the ride- I think Audi/VW should take more responsibility for their obvious engineering mistakes.

Anyone agree?

yea i kinda agree. i mean the timing belt thingie is rediculious, no other car reccomends to change this at 60k. my jeep is running strong and it has 220k on it with the original timing belt. but stuff that randomly breaks i dont think is purposfull. like the sun roof, mine still works great but i barley use it living in oregon and all. the tie rod ends well thats just wear and tear. same goes with the control arms. the way i look at it is audis are fragile vehickles that require proper matenance and if you arnt willing to put forth the effort to keep it running then you arnt the type of person that should buy an audi.

huh just noticed this is post one for you. way to get it started[sm=shootshoot.gif]

i just blew $450 buks on a valve cover gasket and one axle boot, there krazy expensive, but i am then reminded why i baught one everytime a turn a corner, and allow the quattro to, lets say, dominate...

its a love hate relationship with my car, but i think it turly does, fit me "like a glove..."

All Mitsubishis are done at 60k. My 3000GT was.

Timing belt is regular maintenance. Certains things need to be replaced every once and a while. They're not gonna have a recall for every part that doesn't last forever.
