Default The Lingering Turbo Question

There's always questions about the turbos i know but what can you expect.

I'm looking to do a turbo upgrade in the future, maybe late 2006 or early 2007. I don't need 300bhp though, SO i don't think i need to go as far as Garrett.

I was hoping a k04 would do just fine. Does anyone know of a full kit including everything i would need thatd get me 250-275hp? Injectors, exhaust, downpipe, turb manifold, the turbo kit itself, everything i'd need. And of course i'd like to look at price and trq too. Would fmic be necessary?

btw i dont really know alot about this kind of stuff soo.. feel free to fill me in!

The basic kit for the b5 with GIAC is rated at 235 bhp. You could get the pc16 file if you want more, which would probably put you around 255bhp. The pc-16 requires full exhaust and FMIC.

Thats about all I know about it. It is a special, more agressive file for the k04 from GIAC. I'm sure someone with more experience with pc-16 will chime in.

pc16 basically is just a torque file, only runs 18psi, with lots and lots of timing. The standard ko4 sauce runs 22psi.

so the PC16 file is probably going to run the turbo and the rest of the engine pretty hard then? I'd like the car to last a while still. I'll pay more money for any extra reliability, any type of product that would relieve some of the stress that the engine/turbo will be put through with the upgrades

ofcourse any engine mods will take the reliability down since its no longer stock. thats just how it goes when you mod a car. as long as you take car of it though(oil changes and etc) it will last a while. I had the pc16, but my wasegate on my turbo was messed up. i could only boost 10psi but it was still pretty fast. im now WAY faster. anyways, i think the pc16 is only for nDBW cars. since you are a 2000, i believe you can get the GIAC J31 file that has even more power than the pc16. im not positive though. but a KO4 will put you at your goal. you can email awetuning and get a quote from them on your KO4 and j31. if i were you, i would also look into ATPs high flow manifold while you are at it. it will create more hp and its a lot bigger than stock. also, with the set up you will probably want a different clutch.

recommend a clutch to me? how much does a good clutch cost? I wouldnt mind doing a clutch and a short shifter if i ever do all this other turbo upgrade stuff too. It'll probably only happen if I ever get my hands on a K04 for ultra cheap.
