Default A little help with maintenance

I have recently purchased a 03' A4 1.8T AWD with 32,000 miles on it. Aside from replacing the air filter with a K&N, the cabin filter, and switching over to a sythetic oil and large filter is there any other maint. that I should do or have done. I have no previous maint. records on this vehicle and want to baby this car. Thanks very much.

u can scan ur car with a VAG-COM to look for codes and errors

do u warm up car up properly (keepin it below 3000rpm befor its warmed up) and give it cool downs (leting the car idle for about a min befor u turn it off when u have ran the car hard)

I haven't even driven the car yet, but thanks for the words of advise. It is being delivered to my house on Tuesday and even though it appears to be well maintained and the dealer said that they found no problems I just want to take every percaution.

I have been reading about oil sludge but no one has really explained the best way to check and treat this common problem on the 1.8T. Could you please recommend the correct way of treating this problem. I have read that others have used sea foam but I am reluctant to just run to the store and start dumping chemicals into the engine.

As for the control arms I assume that I am just looking to see if they are bent, and without looking is there a symptom that the car will display when it is being driven?

Skip the K and N. Just go for OEM filter.
It wont hurt a periodic intervals (eg 30K miles) to take a turkey baster and suck out the PS fluid from the reservoir and replace it with fresh Pentosin 11.

Wont hurt to change your gear and differential oils every 80K or so.

Keep on using synthetic and thebigger filter every 5K miles and you will be good.

Use one of these oils. I change mine every 10K mi. ,now have 113K mi., with a standard filter
and don't have sludge.

I guess now I am curious to know why you say that I should skip the K&N filter when I hear so many good things about them.

baby it with mobile one 0w40

I say get the kn drop in, that what I have, and Ilike it. The good thing about it is it lasts for a long, long time, just needs periodic cleaning and re-oiling.
