What good are these things? I just noticed them the other day. They are the two little red leds in the front of the overhead center console that light up when your lights are on. Do they have any purpose?

you know at night when your driving....and there seems to be a red glow over the shifter....in around that area.....that's from those two led's....there for looks....that's pretty much it.....

haha. They are dome lights, sometimes known as "map light". I think you get the purpose now. Its just good for having to read something real quick like a toll ticket or a cd or something. Many cars have them. Audi uses the red, and bimmer and benz use an orangeish amber color.
