I'm a admitted BMW guy myself, nothing against Audi its just my dad drove BMW's and I worked at a dealer for a while so it rubbed off, but my girlfriend won't have anything to do with them and wants to replace her 2003 Audi A4 1.8T that a drunk driver totaled, she's a full time student so wants to get out of a car payment and just have something paid for, so we are looking at this 1998 A4 wagon with the 2.8L engine, automatic tiptronic transmission, 81,000 miles, claimed in excellent condition with all maintanance done, but who knows if that means pep boys oil changes every 5,000 miles or what their definition is, has the winter and sports packages as well. I'd like to say I'm pretty knowledgable about cars but every brand and model has its little quirks and issues so anything in particular I should look out for on this particular car approaching 100k?

 

check the control arms, tie rod ends, and make sure the timing belt has been changed.
