Default looking at a '96 2.8 quattro

There's a 1996 A4 2.8 Quattro for sale near me going for $4000. It's manual and has 97,000 miles on it. It is a one owner car with all repair records including those for the new belts/tensioner. Issues include: a sunroof which won't open, a broken CD head unit, and random squeeks and rattles. With only this info known, does it seem like this is a good deal for the Audi?

Thanks in advance

Not a great deal but reasonable. If thats your budget then its a good buy, but I say keep looking. Have you considered a 97+ 1.8T?

The price is good, and so is the mileage. The CD h/u is no big deal, just replace it. Squeaks and rattles can be dealt with. I'd worry about that sunroof, though. Before I bought my A4, I looked at one that had the same problem, so I calledmy dad's friendwho works at the local Audi dealership. He said it'd probably require removing and replacing the sunroof motor, which would run about $1500-2000,parts &labor- which is probably why they're only asking $4000 in the first place (you'll notice NADA used retail is about $5500).

Any car for 4K is going to have problems and you should be ready to fix them........ if you want reliability go with the 2.8.

I'd agree that's a good price considering the relatively low mileage and maintenance records. Bummer about the sunroof, though. If that's critical to you I'd keep looking rather than pay to fix it.
