Default Looking to get an Audi A4

I am looking into getting an A4, 02-04. Maybe an 05 depending on price. Is there anything I should look for in these yrs or shouldn't get? What about the 3.0's, are they ok on gas? What is considered high mileage for an Audi?

Read the stickies in this forum for many anwsers. I have read the 3.0 are smoother than the 2.0T and 1.8T other than that it really depends on fuel economy and if you want to mod the car. There are a lot more choices for mods on the 2.0T (assuming that is the engine you are looking at). 1.8T had issues with sludge in the engine that I have read about, 2.0T needs timing belt replaced around 100k miles and that can run $1000. High mileage would be anything over 90K and not having the timing belt work already done or approaching the next timing belt change time.

Good luck with your search. Might want to just browse the B6 and B7 forum postings to see what others are asking about. Keep in mind that people usually only post when they have a problem so you shouldn't think these cars are lemons.

ALl i am saying is that if you want an audi, its not going to be cheap for maintenance and repair. infact , some times it cost twice or more. So never buy any car without doing some research. Avoid impulse buy when test driving cars at the dealers.
it all depends what you want in a car.

And also avoid shitty mom and pops dealership. The shitty one loves to buy a damage car from an auction, fix it up with bondo and repaint it to make it look nice. Then they tell you its been professionally inspected and has a clean car fax, blah blah blah . Car fax is nice but its never 100 accurate. Just buy certified cars from major car dealership with good warranties.
