looking into 01 A4 v6 quattro....anything i need to know?
whats up guys? im new to this forum, as i may be to audi in a few months. anyways, i havea CD coming due for quite a bit of money in a couple months, along with getting out of college and getting a job. the first thing i plan on doing is to get a new car. i really like the 01 A4 2.8L V6 quattro (manual, of course...can't stand this automatic stuff anymore)...although i dont know too much about it (or any audi for that matter). are there any common problems/recalls/buyer-be-where 'flukes' with these cars? i know there were some with my nissan that i had no idea about until they happened to me
. would it be worth it to buy an extended warrenty if i buy from a dealership? also, i found an 015spd A4with 38,000 miles for about $14,500 froma dealer,is this a good deal?thanks a lot in advance, i appreciate it!

so your going to buy an audi,i havea 01,2.8,v6 myself.got mine for nine grand with 70,000miles.I love the 2.8s myself, but a lot of people prefer the 1.8s cause of the power options.
From what i have learned from the forums is that these cars are usually good up till 70k plus.afterthat youusually have control arms, tie rods etc.i just did my timing which all the guys here recomendafter 70k,but audi would tell you timing is good for 100k plus.
A six year old car with only 38k miles is very little, should be good for another 30-40k without too many problems,as long as its serviced regulary.
price might be a little high, for that im sure you would get a nice 02/03,which is the newer model than the 01.

just be careful a 5 year old car with little miles could have big problems with it. where did the previous owner drive it? not far thats for sure. you hear about people garageing their cars. well with a quatttro why wuold you garage it? its made for the weather. just be careful of it.
