Helloeveryone, yesterday I lost my one and only keys in one of my customers cars. It is a 1998 A4 . I can't believe I did this. I have never lost any keys or wallet like this before. Being locked out of your car is a bad feeling especially when it is stuck in not the best area. I would like to know the best way to get a new key for my car. Thanks in advance everyone.

 

Go to a dealership with your VIN and let them order a new one. It will probably cost you though.

 

thanks that what i figured. canthey cut a new key right then and there without the original or does it have to be shipped in.

 

Depends on if they have the cutter. Most likely it'll have to be shipped.

 

You may want to call around. Some dealers have the cutter and some dont. Just look on the bright side. You dont have to rekey the ENTIRE car.

A VW dealership might help also. They've been known to be a less expensive too.

 

thanks guys, went to Audi dealer in east hartford on monday morning and the key arrived tuesday at 8:30 am. Cost me 70 bucks with tax. Plus $30 for a rental car. So gotta way fairly inexpensive.
