Default Loud clicking noise

Hey all,

I've been having this problem with my A4 lately that when the car heats up to normal operating temperature, and the rpms are below 1000, I hear a very loud knocking/clicking noise that appears to be coming from the head. It threw an engine code that said it was a faulty cam angle sensor, so I replaced that but the problem is still there. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Probably a bad cam chain tensioner. Search on it.

lifters... aka valve tick... i assume thats what you are experiencing but that code makes me a little skeptical. 40 weight oil helps if changed every 3k

Not a chance in hell, onepoint8tee hit the nail on the head. Especially with that fault code, the cam shaft adjuster is sticking causing the cam sensor to throw a cam allocation fault.

yeah it sounds like it is coming from the back of the car, how hard is it to fix the problem if that is it?

im sorry my bad, that would be the back of the engine. It only does it after the car is warmed up though, for a good amount of time. If only semi-warm the car will do it when starting for 1-2 sec but thats it. It looks like its next to the EGR. Again im not up on audi's so im sorry for the dumb question.

Its the cam chain tensioner like we told you, its mounted on the top of the cylinder head at the back.
Thats what the dealer is gonna tell you no doubt.
