over the past 2 weeks or so my car has been making a whine that has increased in volume while i turn the steering wheel. Over the past few days the steering has felt like it has notches in it and turning the wheel is slightly harder. Im not a mechanic but its probably the power steering lol. Is it on its way out or what? Thanks.

 

That sounds like a power steering pump on its way out.

 

Have you checked the fluid level for the PS? Otherwise your ump sounds like it is on its last legs.
