hey guysi have a 2001 2.8 30v 5sp quattro with just under 100k and as i was driving tonite the minimum oil level light came on, i checked the oil and found it tobe ok, topped it off just to be safe and turned the car on again...no dise the light it still on and wont go off!!!!!! im guessing its just the oil level sensor? any1 run across this on this motor b4? and that is the sensor that is on the bottom of the oil pan right? ive done a search and havnt really found a straight answer to this,,,every1 that has this problem seems to have the 1.8t and no1 has said where the sensor is and to top it off never posted to let people know what happened?!?!?! so any help will be great...i am gonna check the oil level tomorrow and drive to my friends about 10 miles away and put it up on th lift and see if i see anything out of sorts

 

well, if you checked the oil and it is at the proper level, then itmight be the sensor and not a big deal if you can stand the annoying light......

 

I didn't know there is an oil level indicator. I believe there is anoil pressure low
indicator. The screen may be plugged up with sludge. Open the oil fill cap.
Feel around the valve cover for sludge. Good luck.

 

If the light you're talking about is a big red "genie" lamp, then its the oil pressure warning, and not oil level.

 

the light im talkin about is on the info display and its a genie lamp with "min" next to it....its the low oil level light looked it up in the manual

 

The oil sensor is on the bottom by the oil pan. Wiring or dirty connections inside the sensor or the sensor itself can be bad. Mine comes on every 60 miles even though the oil is OK? No one seems to know so I'm ready to put a new one in and go from there. I'll never by another Audi A4!

 

by the oil sump/pump there's a filter/L pipe with a filter on the end. That is probably clogged. It's under the drive assembly. Clean it or put a new one in.
