lowering springs

can i use lowering springs on a 98 1.8t a4 with the factory struts?
i wanna lower the car a bit but i dont want to use aftermarket struts!

Yea you can but it's pointless. Just save and get a whole kit. You will end up installing the springs and about 4-6 months your struts will start to fail, probablly blow the seals. Not only that, once you lower your car you have to get an alignment. Then if you change it again then you have to get another alignment.

not a good idea but I'm going to do it probably next week me and my buddy are going to do the work at his shop and if the struts fail within the 6 months I'll just purcahase the struts and get it done all over again since its so easy.

I am going to replace my strut mounts too they often wear out after so many miles and makes the car sound like the struts are out.

even if im only lowering the car 1.25 inches, which isnt much at all?

i'm going 2" with stock struts but like I said I'm getting it done free but my personal opinion about this is yes it will be ok but I know I'm wrong from the guys told me here.

just break down and buy a package. Maybe even some coilovers. If u just buy the springs the sturts will eventually break and may even cause more damge and cost more than just replcing them now.
