Is is possible to go from amaf sensor to a map sensor without changing your standard ECU?? If so, is it worth it???

RE: MAF to MAP??
dont think so MAP is used on single point injection and MAF is for multi point, dont know of anyone who has don it Ive never even considered it so I could be wrong

RE: MAF to MAP??
You would need a stand alone system and use the ems required map. It is costly, hard to install, but well worth it if you have the money. People make far more power on a ems than on a chipped tune. Not to mention tons of other advantages of an ems.

RE: MAF to MAP??
If your car has a turbo, there is a MAP sensor already, & it will default to it if you unplug the MAF. Some times if the MAF is bad, the car will run much better.
My question is why do you want to run the car this way? So you can put in a BOV? The MAP sensor is not as accurate as a MAF, so you can't meter the fuel as well. Yes, you can program the ECU to run on a MAP sensor, & you can add a piggyback fuel computer to run on MAP. You will give up some drivability to go this route. |
RE: MAF to MAP??

RE: MAF to MAP??
There is a few people here that say the pre 00 A4 have bot te map and maf?? If so where is the Map and why would they put both on?? And yes i am going standalone but not now, hopefully by the end of the year.I just bought up this topic to see what people think.
Also to reply about the BOV comment , il come back to you about that.... ;) |
RE: MAF to MAP??
^ correct but im getting confused here MAP as in single point injection systems is used instead of a MAF that's if he means to replace the MAP with theMAF ( air intake side ),
the other MAP sensor is for the exhaust side and used on the later turbo engines |
RE: MAF to MAP??
Dave you are confussed man.
MAP - manifold absolute pressure MAF - mass air flow Both meter air that is going into the engine. They both have their roles in the 1.8t also. The maf meters the incoming air and the map registers how many psi you are running and is a fall back if your maf has errors/problems. Your MAP is attached to the intercooler. see below https://www.audiforums.com/upfiles/2...t359684127.jpg |
