Default MAF to MAP??

Is is possible to go from amaf sensor to a map sensor without changing your standard ECU?? If so, is it worth it???

You would need a stand alone system and use the ems required map. It is costly, hard to install, but well worth it if you have the money. People make far more power on a ems than on a chipped tune. Not to mention tons of other advantages of an ems.

If your car has a turbo, there is a MAP sensor already, & it will default to it if you unplug the MAF. Some times if the MAF is bad, the car will run much better.

My question is why do you want to run the car this way? So you can put in a BOV? The MAP sensor is not as accurate as a MAF, so you can't meter the fuel as well.

Yes, you can program the ECU to run on a MAP sensor, & you can add a piggyback fuel computer to run on MAP. You will give up some drivability to go this route.

^ correct but im getting confused here MAP as in single point injection systems is used instead of a MAF that's if he means to replace the MAP with theMAF ( air intake side ),

the other MAP sensor is for the exhaust side and used on the later turbo engines

Dave you are confussed man.

MAP - manifold absolute pressure
MAF - mass air flow

Both meter air that is going into the engine. They both have their roles in the 1.8t also. The maf meters the incoming air and the map registers how many psi you are running and is a fall back if your maf has errors/problems.

Your MAP is attached to the intercooler. see below
