Maybe easy fix for fading LCD on instrument panel!
Someone used Card board on both sides and it worked for him I tried on my face lift LCD and it did not work on the packing so a ribbon or screen may be on the cards.
I just tried it and it didn't work for me. I put the cardboard pieces in between the glass and the metal frame. Was it supposed to be in between the back of the glass and the rubber things back there?

This should help

Step 1: Take out the instrument cluster.

Step 2: Disconnect the plugs.

Step 3: Remove the remaining plugs.
Step 4: Remove the cover. Take out the screws and snap open the cover.

Now put it all back.

LOL its so funny how many people have the exact same problem. Those damn LCD's fading out. Mine is just as you describe, totally fading out and on cooler days it seems to look better. On top of all this my sensory system is totally out of wack. Does anyone have the same problem? my MPG rating and all those other little info blips are all over the place. What would cause that?
I tried it today and it did not work.
In short I used 1/32" thick silicone rubber and made a frame to fit inside the metal frame...
Took a good look at the ribbon that is bonded to the LED plates and it looked intact...but the factory rubber strip was attached as well.
The guy that did this first "DID" say that he made strips to go "UNDER" the plates but I was unable to do the same.
