Default MBC Questions

I know everyone says how these are stupid on our cars and I understand why (a/f mix, and maf and what not) i was wondering if the same still stands even with a chip. I noticed a few people on here still have them so I was wondering why. Can I use it to run lower boost? Does that mess up readings too. What about if I only increaced a few psi, would I notice tourque gains then?

On a whoooole different note, I installed a pioneer 10" today with a 650watt amp. Sounds perfect, really increased the depth of the music, hits really nice inside without setting off car alarms on the out. Ill post pics of the install tomorrow.

First of all, If you have to ask these question, i would stay away from a boost controoler, u can fry a turbo real fast unless u know what ur doing. You setup needs to call for one. Example, Guys who run the j31 ko4 runs an insane amount of boost,29psi. Alot of guys turn it down to 25psi, because it just blows hot air.Its used to control boost on bigger turbos, most times not on a ko3.

Well the thing is when i got my chip i only got one program. But my girlfriend drives my car every once in a blue moon so I thought maybe i could turn it back down to stock. But if i could turn it back down, i would prob end up turning it up a little And i ask these questions in search of answers. You basically answered me with "Since you dont know the answer, dont get a controller" Well im looking for answers so I can make the decision on the controller. So if anyone that actually knows what they are talking and about could inform thatd be great.

What about getting a mbc and running it at 1 bar like my chip. That way i dont run lean. but wont i get better spool? Wont my boost come on sooner?

You also have to remember ower on the chips isnt only made by raising the boost. Timing is increased which results in gains as well.

the only thing that it would help is from over boosting and for u there is no point since u might spike at 18 psi. if u put it back to stock boost then ur prob goin to mess things up b/c ur a/f and timing are set to use with 14 psi. just think about it. its pretty much common sense

i like boost controllers personally, but you still have to do a chip. i would do a apex avc-r you can tune injector duty cycles. it gives a little more for tuning and you can always turn it off where it runs only 6 psi i think. the avc-r is the only controller that i am familiar with and it is difficult to understand and tune but once you get a hang of it its a breeze. but if you plan on doing this for a car thaqt is lighly modded i would wait until you have other things in place.
