So I have an 02 a4 1.8t with quattro. It is my first turbo AWD and Im not sure if I know how to drive it. I just got the apr stage1+, turbo back exhaust, FMIC, and a DV. The boost seems like it comes on at about 3k and falls off at about 5k. The problem I am having and I dont even know if its a problem but when I stomp on it at what I would think was close to peak boost sometimes it throws me back in the seat andother times it just feels like It never builds boost. Does anyone have any tips on driving turbo cars?

 

is it a manual? ... if so, sounds to me like you might need to downshift first... its not gonna pull in 5th gear like it would in 3rd for example...

 

your not gunna have alot of boost in the lower rpm range that might be what your experiencing

 

Yeah its a 5 speed. Most of the time when I hit it its at about 3 to 4k it just that sometimes the torque curve seems flat as opposed to other times. How do you guys usually launch

 

does it seem particularly flat when the car is hot ? could be heat sink

Thats really all the mods I have thats why I am thinking that I am not driving it right
