Mechanic in Jacksonville, FL?
Anyone know of a relyable Audi mechanic in Jacksonville, FL?
I'm looking to get a Timing Belt, pump job done on my 2000 A4 1.8T (5 Speed). Basically looking to try to avoid paying a stealership $1,100.00 for the job.. Cheers!

Hey, there is a place called Erbaugh's Auto Fitness. I have had work done on previous cars and they do great work for a good price. They specialize in vw so it would be no prob for them. Just curious, where in Jax do you live?
I'm down in Neptune Beach.

Cool! I'll give them a call. Thanks! I live right off of San Pablo between Atlantic and Beach (I think the old school term for this area is east Arlington?)... I'm always in Neptune for Sushi (Tomas) or at that Caribbean restaurant right on A1A & Atlantic.
Hey, I did use Erbaugh's for an initial inspection and they were very good.
I did end up getting a different car because the one in Tampa was a nightmare waiting to happen.
The little dealer (found on ebay) was a crook. There was about 4K worth of repair work needed.
Long story short I found a 2.8 Quattro, tiptronic.. Silver, Loaded with bose 6 CD changer, leather seats, etc..
It needed rear break pads..That's it for the most part.
Also I found another repair place in town called VolksTech. I figured I'd pass that along.
Hey, know anywhere in town I can get a Haynes service manual? Some of these parts shops in town seem pretty sketchy in terms of knowledge..
Thanks,
Adam

yeah, any autozone or discount would have one. that is where I got mine.
i'm glad that erbaugh's worked out for you. i would have mentioned volkstech, but i had a buddy who had a lot of trouble with them....replaced wrong part twice, then i finally fixed the prob.....but otherwise, everyone i have talked to praises them.
hey maybe i'll see you out and about sometime. I have 97 midnight blue a4 w/yellow calipers. can't miss em!!!

there is also a audi/vw/porshe shop on beach near university, i forget the name of the place (its been a few months since i moved from down there). if you are at the intersection and head east on beach, you'll pass a elementary school and then it will be on your right.
Hey Joshua, I'll definitely honk a few times if I see you. Mine isn't as noticible.
I got the manual today at Auto zone. It'll be good to finally be able to identify these engine parts

If I'm on that end of town, I'll keep an eye out for it.
By the way, when I did bring the car in for breaks, there was a check engine light on and I was initially told that the gas cap wasn't on tight enough.. After they diagnosed it they told me it needes a Fuel Injection/Decarbonization service ($99.95), and Throttle body cleaning ($97.50) and replace vacuum lines ($10.00). @ 86K miles, I think it might be time.
That being said, I asked David, one of the Audi forum moderators and he mentioend that I probably don't need all this work done...But he was gratious enough to explain how to do these items (sounds very easy).. I do really think I should save and get a Vagcom so I can save on trips to any of these repair places...

Cool deal! That's great! After I do my little maintenance this weekend, if the check engine light doesn't go off I might need to call you.
It should go out now that I know what it is. Thanks!
