Default Mobil 1 vs. other synthetics

I've used Mobil 1 in my cars for a couple of years and have had good luck with it, my father uses it too in his Buick Roadmaster with about 240,000 miles and he has a 5000 series turbo wagon with just under 350,000! Have any of you used other synthetic oils? If so, what brand and why?

Not in my audi (cuz i aitn got one yert) i use Amsoil Full Synthetic. Why? We used mobil one and personally didnt like it in our truck. We tow a 38 foot fifth wheel trailer and it weighs about 17k lbs. With the mobil one it would actually burn off after a few thousand miles. We where recommended to try amsoil and havent had a prob since.

With numbers like that, I'd say you've answered your own question. I used to use Royal Purple and now use Mobil 1 (5W 30). The Mobil 1 is less expensive and more available. The data on both are good, I'm just not sure that with Mobil 1 priced the way it is that the Royal Purple is worth the extra money and hassle of getting it shipped to me.

I wish royal purple was on stock shelves around here but its not. I have to use valvoline snytec, even mobile 1 is hard to come by.

I run M1 OW-40 normally. I may switch to royal purple on the next change.

Where do you live that Mobil one is hard to come by?

What is royal purple? Is this a europe only oil? Never heard of it. But I am new to this scene.
