Modify B6 A4 or purchase B6 S4

Modify B6 A4 or purchase B6 S4
So I recently purchased a B6 a4 ( I love the b6 model of 4s and this is the only one I could afford at the moment ).
My question is would it be more cost effective to modify my a4 to equal power of the s4, and make it look akin to an s4, or should I just save up, sell the a4, and purchase an s4 and work from there?
The a4/s4 will be my daily for quite a while ( thinking upwards of 10+ years ) so not only is initial price an issue, but cost of fuel down the line, and maintenance are an important factor.
My heart says to save up for the s4, after all it would only cost me about 5k more than my a4 cost me, however the mpg and the maintenance kills me.
