Mods for 2.8 A4
Need an intake for this car, and maybe a few other things. As far as the cosmetics go its lookin pretty tight. Need experienced answers, maye those that actually have a decent intake and can tell me how its been working. thanks.
You will find that there isnt much needed to improve the performance of the 2.8L 30V. The 2.8 is a fairly large motor for the chasis. The cone K&N type filters will not give you much, but you can try the drop in replacements and all you have to do is clean and oil them routinely - you will have some gain without putting a hole in your pocket for nothing. The stock exhaust system is more than what the engine needs. Regular maintenance is all you need to keep the engine running great and responsive.
If anything, always a good upgrade is installing some spec sized good rotors and good brake pads. Brembo x drilled rotors, EBC or Raybestos pads.
Hope this helps

the biggest problem with an intake on the 2.8 is heat. without a good shield an intake can actually rob you of some power. if you had the 1.8 i would reccomend the carbino intake, its way spendy too. your best bet is the one www.evoms.com makes, it comes w/ a good sized shield. i think that one is spendy too though. everyone always says no on the chip for the 2.8, but thats my next mod.
Thanks for the advice fellas. Sorry it took me so long to reply back. The LLTEK intake sounds like it would be my best bet. Because of the review Jazz7 gave me (gracias Jazz), it sounds to hold its own, but still on the expensive side. Just a fews things though:
If i did get the LLTEk, would it give me a problem with the check engine light? Ive been reading throughout the site and ive heard of a few problems with the MAF sensor. I had a Focus prior to my A4 (great switch by the way) with a Volant intake. The **** was mean, and had no problems. But this is also a more sophisticated German car so im a littled worried.
Secondly, i found an intake on ebay with basically the same setup as the LLTEK with a K&N cone filter routed towards the left fender. Very very cheap. Just wanted to know what your opinons were on trying it. Thanks again.

Yes, also I'm interested in the K&N cone filter with the plate adaptor from crapBay. not so much for the power bump, if any, but for more engine communication. I have a 5 speed and prefer to shift by ear, but the damn engine is so quiet that I can't hear what's going on. Does anybody have feedback on if the cone gives you some more engine music?

I wish I had some answers. I have a 2.8 Tip and can hardly find anything. (probably a good thing since I don't really have the $$)
But I'm considering an exhaust and even they are rare. Might add the KN since it's a cheap upgrade.
