Default most cost effective way to drop a 98 quattro?

Okay, I know that this is an age old question, but most people as what suspension set up will provide the best performance. I am interested in lowering the car about 1.5" in the front and 1" in the back. I know I can't just change the springs and I am not interested in being able to adjust ride height. What is the cheapest way to go about this? Thanks a lot!

Just wait for a used set of springs/shocks... eibach/bilstein or something like that. Should definately be able to get something very nice for 500 or less.

Yup.
You can save money buy buying the springs used... nothing wrong with used springs, if you ask me... new shocks with warranty would be nice, though... and you should be able to get something new for 700 without much trouble.

You can get Bilstein shocks off ebay for like $450, and some Tein springs for about $150.
