Default mount troubles

i installed my motor mounts, snub mount and passenger side tranny mount today. i couldn't get the driver side on and realized there are some small cracks in the section that connects the mount to the tranny, so im gona have to order that part from the dealer and get a friend to help me install it.

so i go to drive it. there's a vibration at idle, which i expected since everyone complains about that, i just need to shave the mount a bit so its not hitting the spindle housing. but then i whenever i step on it a little bit, the car starts shaking back and forth quite violently. so i stopped, turned around and parked it[&o]

what could be causing this problem?

Only thing I can think of is, are you positive you torqued them to spec?

You're driving around with one tranny mount and your asking why your car is shaking?
You messed something up, double check your work.

there are 2 tranny mounts in there, one is just a new 034 street density, while the other is stock. and its night out over here, so i cant work on the car anymore tonite. guess i'll just have to check it over tomorrow before class.

and i didn't torque anything to spec, i just tightened them as much as i could. none of the DIY articles list torque specs for any of the bolts.

what i meant in the first post was, that i couldn't get the stock driverside tranny mount off to get the new street density mount in.

So you didn't get the 034 snub with the round housing? I got vibrations at idle still with that one. your problem is most likely that you got rubber on one side and poly on the other. they both have to match, or i'd be expecting some violent engine shaking. I know you can't mix and match mount materials (other than just doing the snub). I had rubber oe motor mounts and a poly rear transmission mount on my chevy - the trans mount was stiff with very little play. the extra play the rubber motor mounts had caused the transmission housing to crack. If the trans mount was rubber, it would have been able to flex more, and take up the movement, rather than the transmission housing taking it and breaking. Don't drive anywhere like that, especially with your stage 5 clutch. you'll be lucky not to break anything - consider also the mounts are totally different on the audi and chevy fwiw.

so you think its because i have 1 stock tranny mount and 1 street density tranny mount? the driver side is so hard to remove, i gotta get these 4 8mm hex bolts out and they are tucked up under pretty damn good. anyone swap their driverside mount without removing the bracket? how did you do it?

and i just got the snub, not the circular mount to go with it, it seemed to clear the stock spindle bracket by a few mm, but im gona try to shave it a little more to get rid of the vibration at idle. it doesn't really bother me that much since my system vibrates my car a LOT more than the mount lol

but i definitely gotta get the violent shaking fixed. i only went 50 feet, and turned back around. i think im gona try and install the stock passenger side mount back on if i can't get the driverside one on and see if that fixes my problem

got the new mount in, still have the same problem. anything over 20mph and it jerks like crazy. im almost certain its cause of the bracket connecting the mount to the tranny is cracked by 2 of the bolts on the ride hand side. when i tried to remove it, the distance between the crack increased and stayed that way even when i tightened it. guess this was why my transmission had so much slop before lol. wonder how much the dealer is gona rape me on this one...or could i possibly fix it myself? some jb weld? would that hold?

the car is amazing below 20mph tho[8D] so solid
