ok last week while driving on the freeway my car suddenly died and the oil pressure light came on...i started it back up and its been fine for a week. today i was pulling into work and my car died again only this time there was some funky clicking noise coming from under the steering column by the fuses...or atleast it sounds like it, and the cel starts flashing really quickly...i start the car back up after a minute and it ran fine until i just pulled in my driveway and the same thing happened.. any ideas???? should i perhaps put my unchipped ecu back in?

 

You really need to get the car looked at for oil sludge problems. I woudn't keep driving like that.

 

My car never died... by my oil pressure light came on. $2,000 later with a new oil pump and oil sludge flushed out of the engine... still in talks with Audi.

ok heres an update....nothing wrong with oil pressure...but the car died five times on me in like 500 ft. bursts this morning, so i got her towed to the dealership.. they said that i needed a new fuel pump relay. so, the part will be in on monday and they will put it on and see if it fixes the problem. but still it was making some really loud clicking sounds that sounded like i snapped a belt. i asked them about it and they said that it could be a damper roller i think, that is really loose. ill find out more monday when i see em again..what a day what a day

 

would my ecu being chipped have contributed to the fuel pump relay malfunction?

 

No highly unlikely. A loose damper roller!?? Dude are you asking to blow your engine up?? If that timing belt comes off the engine is toast.

 

well i dont think im ever asking my engine to blow up..already had that once with my other car..i still dont know that much about audi's, but ill find out for sure monday what exactly is going on. that would just be my luck though having the timing belt break.

 

I know, I wasn't being too serious. BUT, you really should get it taken care of!

 

See how it runs after the fuel pump relay is replaced. If there is noise from the timing belt area, get it repaired.
