Ok heres the story behind the topic: I have a 99 a4 v6 : It was like massively raining, all the streets were flooded today and I went through a HUGE FING puddle. The whole highway was closed but I went through the ****.

Anyway, I go through the puddle and i hear "BRROOOOM" from my exhaust, like it sounds like theres water i in it. So i figure it is going to evaprate, so i let it run, and it doesnt go away.


Now, my car sounds NASTY! Me and my friend were just DRAG racing it down the road for like a half hr til the cops came and he said it sounds like an EVO! The idle sounds sort of like a v8 mustang "blub blub.." .. and when you hit the gas it GROWLS!
Anyway,
Whats wrong with my car? I think its the exhaust manifold that is probally cracked... any other suggestions?

Now the other question: If i leave my car like it is now (because omg it sounds sooo much nicer than a s4), is it going to die?

 

omg i dont think i stressed how big this puddle was... it was f**ing big...

and I didnt say that it drives fine, its pure exhaust... no power loss no nothing as far as i can tell

 

uhh i went through a reallllly deep *** puddle and my car doesnt sound like an evo....it just spits blue/white smoke all over the place....for a while it was shutting off and bogging out...wouldnt rev past 3/4 grand....im pretty concerned.

 

That could be possible. Before I got my Audi I had a Jeep Wrangler and the manifold cracked on it and you could hear it a mile away!!! Just take it to a shop somewhere or try and look yourself and see if you can find any cracks in it. The one in mine was almost 2 inches long and about 1/4 inch wide. It looked like someone took a grinder tool and just stuck it in there it was that exact. Hope this helps!!!

ouch man. this is a cracked manifold...

 

that huge hole is what happens when it cracks? thats crazy.

 

I think hes talkin about the welds by the flange.
