My friends new a4 1.8T

My friend just got a new a4 i believe its an '01. I went over to take a look at it cause he said his OBC(on board computer) thats what its called over at e46fanatics not sure what is over here. Well the screen on it has a bunch of dead pixels and you can't really read much of anything. Well my question is can i replace just the screen for him or will he need to buy a whole new instrument cluster? thanks guys

there is a fix for it, but its probably worth the money to just replace it, andi think its $500. So he can probably live without it... I and most of the other people on here do.
