no, the sports package was simply the lower suspension, sport wheels and three spoke steering wheel

^^ This is true. I was just adding up the sport suspension ingredients. Judging from the pics, it looks sport to me. We all know what an Audi with 4x4 suspension looks like. Who knows, the PO could have installed a set of H&R sports springs and shocks.

or he could just look up his option codes. that is really the only way to tell and 100% IMO. if you do have sport suspension though the KO3s did not exist until 2001
