Call me an idiot...(had your chance). But, where is the benefit of buying the APR K04 upgrade when you can buy a rebuilt 03/04 for $550, another $500 for injectors then go to Revo for a chip?

Convenience and the fact that their k04 is brand new and not a refurb'd k03 built to k04 spec. Its always cheaper to peice it together even if you buy a new k04.

There is no benefit. You're paying for the brand.

From what i have learned it would seem that APR is simply packaging everything together and then putting a premium on it. just blew my K03 so i have been looking at this myself. I already have the APR Stage 1+ w/ injectors, so the route I decided to go was to simply add the K04-015 and then have APR upgrade me to the K04 programming for an additional $199 since i am already a customer.
I bought the "install kit" (gaskets, bolts, studs) from ECS for $50 shipped, i just need to find the turbo now.

You will likely need to go with a rebuild since the K04s are really hard to find, I've been looking since i blew my K03 last week with no luck at all (unless you count ebay, but I'm not paying more then a grand for a run of the mill K04).

I just realized that they even offer their software for the Stage II for a good price. A rebuilt K03 to 04 specs is the same as a new K04 physically, correct?

That link is to an old thread though, and K04's are on back order from pretty much everywhere.. Hopefully they are still available and at that price still..

It's an ongoing price from Kinetic Motorsports. I read in a couple of the past posts that they are also on backorder, but the price is still the same.

There doesn't seem to be any benefit in warranty by going with new either. Think my mind is made up...
